UC Berkeley junior transfer student Giancarlo Fernandez is running unopposed for a second term as ASUC executive vice president.

UC Berkeley junior transfer student Giancarlo Fernandez was unanimously voted into office by the ASUC Senate as the executive vice president of the ASUC in a meeting Sept. 15.

The ASUC Senate met Wednesday for a meeting that chiefly involved a discussion about nullifying a bylaw regarding elected officials’ stipends and the swearing in of Giancarlo Fernandez as executive vice president.

ASUC Executive Vice President, or EVP, Aditya Varma resigned from his position due to ideological differences with the ASUC.

The ASUC Elections Council and Judicial Council certified some of the ASUC election results for the 2021-22 academic year during their respective meetings Monday. 

Varma’s enthusiastic approach to legislative reform is just the kind of bold advocacy students will need most as we navigate a hopeful return to campus.
