I was lucky enough to have mentors who were able to relieve me from any financial barriers for college, but not all students are as fortunate as I was.

These individuals were born to less-than-ideal circumstances and, rather than being provided with support, were locked away with a punitive intent that rarely rehabilitates.

There is no desire to prod past the surface of a loved one’s well-being, and slowly, we become strangers.

Why in 2023 do I think about occurrences from decades ago? It’s because of stories I have heard from Asian and Asian American students today that are similar to my childhood experiences.

A more engaged student body should be the objective of the ASUC because elaborate deliberation and dissent are the natural results of a more involved community.

There’s so much shame surrounding women in the sex industry and it would be a lie to say that I wasn’t influenced by it.

Students should not feel intensely stressed over an exam or course, worried sick about the next impossible question that arrives at their doorsteps.

While the administration claims closure due to budget deficits, recent financial decisions point toward a different reality — a reality where other priorities stand to block the doors of the anthropology library indefinitely.  

While my fellow classmates had older siblings who prepared them for the harsh realities of secondary school, I learned the ins and outs of the world through the stories my beloved books held.

We each have a responsibility to change the course of discussions so that our lived experiences are acknowledged to the fullest extent.
