ASUC Elections 2020

ASUC presidential candidate Haazim Amirali suspended his campaign Sunday night. Amirali is a current ASUC senator and ran his campaign with Student Action.

All of REBUILD's candidates publicly disaffiliated from the party Sunday.

JP McKeever, a campus sophomore, recently announced his campaign as an independent candidate for the 2020 ASUC Senate election.

Transfer student Harmony Bulloch is running for ASUC Senate as an independent candidate with an endorsement from the Transfer Coalition to remove barriers for transfer students.

Campus junior and transfer student Gabriel Alfaro hopes to be a pillar for positive change on campus as an independent ASUC Senate candidate.

Throughout the ASUC election season, candidates have run their campaigns with personal contributions, donations or without any funding.

Hoping to promote student health and happiness, UC Berkeley sophomore Dani Coze announced her independent candidacy for ASUC Senate. 

UC Berkeley sophomore Dhruv Krishnaswamy announced his independent candidacy for ASUC Senate, and he is running with the aim of strengthening the campus community.

ASUC elections have moved completely online, forcing candidates to alter their campaigning strategies and the ASUC Elections Council to find new ways to get the word out about voting. The decision was made in response to campus’s move to remote classes and the shelter-in-place order over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 ASUC elections ballot will include a transfer student representative position for the first time. The position was established through the Transfer Remedy Act, which was included in the ASUC 2019 elections ballot.
