The start of the fall semester is slowly approaching. And regardless of which year you're in, new beginnings inevitably come with promises or goals we make to follow through with the rest of the semester. Every UC Berkeley student has had some, if not all, of these idealistic thoughts that flit into their head at some point or another.

Most UC Berkeley students will spend at least a year living in one of the residence halls. It doesn’t take too long to getting used to the way of life in a residence hall, but after a couple of weeks most people will come to realize the struggles.

Before heading off to college, you probably Googled something along the lines of “what do I need to bring to college?” As helpful as the suggestions for a desk lamp or even an electric blanket might be, we at the Clog feel that us Berkeley students need a couple of other things that the lists don’t often mention.

For a first-timer at UC Berkeley, there’s a lot that suddenly jumps out at you — the idiosyncrasies that are just very Berkeley. And there are many things that form your first impression of Berkeley. Most of us hear this or that before we get here, but there are some things you just need to experience in person to really understand this place.
