Conover’s method of presentation fused with a lecture-style organization, quirky graphics and pure comedy served to educate and entertain the audience.

At first glance, this intervention may seem out of place and random. But little details such as this are truly able to capture the unpredictable and avant-garde spirit of Björk.

Sporting minimalistic set design and magnificent lighting throughout, “Lyric Voices” takes the audience on trips to outer space, the glowing world of technology and a geometric interpretation of opera.

Acclaimed Oakland-born costume designer Sandra Woodall and her creative team have flawlessly executed costumes for more than 200 dance and theater productions. Accordingly, sublime and stellar garments are to be expected from Woodall, a five-time Isadora Duncan Award winner.

Despite the serious and heavily historical content, the production succeeds in establishing an almost lighthearted and comical atmosphere through dialogue and asides. The dramatization of the script emphasizes the cultural differences between the two coaches in a hilarious manner — mostly through playful banter.

Due to her prolific career, Kelly was able to fill her set list with selections from every part of her musical spectrum. New and old, released and unreleased, song covers and gospel tracks all made an appearance during the two-hour show.

A few modern shows, in anticipation of new story trends and modes of narrative, are overturning many established conventions in these animated serials — for better and for worse. Two themes from the lab are currently the most well-received: a minimalism in choice of details, and an emphasis on narratives of orphanhood.

Throughout his prolific career, he battled the Tammany Hall political machine, became a congressman and best of all, fell in love.

“Kimono Refashioned” takes fashion enthusiasts and art lovers alike on an immersive tour of the evolution of the kimono and its influences on Western fashion. This exhibition highlights the cross-pollination of artistic values and the mechanics behind fashion between countries all over the world.
