As I’m getting ready to say goodbye, it’s difficult to believe that the girl who walked through Sather Gate for the first time four years ago is the same person seeing it for perhaps the very last time now.

I was struggling to remain interested in my classes, waiting impatiently for days when I would be an upperclassman engaged in biology deeply, and enjoy it.

Surreal art isn’t above the real or in any way beyond it; it simply offers a different, newer way of looking at the real world, constructing a different perspective.

Cities have been destroyed entirely across Turkey and Syria due to the recent earthquakes, and here we are, students at UC Berkeley, holding candles and mourning nearly 7,000 miles and a 14-hour flight away:  on the other side of the world.
