The University of California Student Association, or UCSA, is encouraging the UC Board of Regents to eliminate the Student Advisor position, stated in a letter released on Sunday.

Michael Barbaro, a New York Times reporter and the host of the nationally-renowned news podcast, The Daily, will be the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, or J-School, keynote speaker for the Spring commencement ceremony, May 18.

In an attempt to create more student housing, Berkeley City Council unanimously voted to allocate $250,000 to student housing on Southside at its regular meeting Tuesday night.

UC Berkeley Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Stephen Sutton called off pyrotechnics at the Big Game Rally, held annually on the evening before the football game against Stanford University. The bonfire, traditionally featured at the rally, was previously canceled because of an air quality notice.

Resolutions to support local workers unions, a proposal to increase safety at San Pablo Park and the provision of mobile showers for homeless individuals are some of the items on the agenda for Tuesday’s regular Berkeley City Council meeting.
