In a last-minute addition to first-year head coach Mark Madsen’s roster revamp, the Bears have signed 6’3’’ Serbian guard Vladimir Pavlovic for the upcoming basketball season. The move was announced Thursday via a Cal Athletics press release.
The announcement comes just days before the new school year, as Pavlovic joins a newcomer class of two freshmen signees and four transfers. Alongside his nationally-ranked transfer class — spearheaded by Fardaws Aimaq and Jaylon Tyson from Texas Tech — Madsen expects Pavlovic to boost the backcourt forces.
“(Pavlovic’s) talent, character and basketball IQ make him a great addition to our roster,” said Madsen in the press release. “His size and athleticism are key advantages at the guard positions and he plays the game with a high motor that’ll make his teammates better.”
As Madsen and company continue to raise Cal fans’ hope for a season of redemption following a 3-29 run, the blue and gold will debut Nov. 6, hosting St. Thomas.
