Gunshots were reported on the 2100 block of Oregon Street after a person took to following what they deemed to be a suspicious vehicle.

Just after 3 p.m., the person called BPD to report that they were following a silver sedan that they believed to be connected to a crime that took place yesterday, according to BPD spokesperson Byron White. They soon called back to say the person in the sedan had started shooting at them so they stopped following.

“As far as we can tell, no one’s been struck from the gunfire, so nobody’s hurt or anything, thankfully,” White said.

White noted that the gunfire was close to Berkeley Bowl Marketplace.

Given that the incident is currently under investigation, BPD has closed the area between Shattuck Avenue and Fulton Street for the time being.

BPD is still searching for the suspect but asks anyone with information to call (510) 981-5900.
