Two pedestrians were hit and subsequently hospitalized after a driver struck them with his car at a crosswalk at the intersection of Telegraph Avenue and Parker Street a little before 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
The pedestrians were taken to Kaiser Permanente hospital in Oakland — one person sustained injures to their leg, and the other sustained injuries to their shoulder, according to Berkeley Police Department Lt. Kevin Reece. The driver who hit the pedestrians is cooperating with police, Reece added, and there were no signs of drug or alcohol use.
According to Reece, the driver was driving westbound on Parker Street and had difficulty seeing with the angle of the sun. The incident was a “low speed collision,” Reece added.
