AC Transit is reinstating its mask mandate policy, effective June 3, due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Alameda County.

The masking policy, which was previously voluntary, was announced Thursday following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Transportation Security Administration that transit riders wear face masks.

The announcement also reminded transit riders that personal protective equipment dispensers will provide complimentary, disposable face masks and hand sanitizers at the front of each bus.
