The final exam for EECS 16B, originally scheduled from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday night, was moved online after an alleged threat made in posts on Reddit on Thursday night.

Professors announced the change to the exam Friday morning, citing a “potential threat to the security of our exam administration.” Students will receive an additional half-hour to complete the exam and will also be required to record themselves to prevent academic dishonesty, according to the announcement.

The posts in question allegedly expressed gratitude for the 2nd amendment and suggested the Reddit user was excited to see everyone at the exam. The posts have since been deleted.

After investigating the reports, UCPD determined there was no credible threat, according to campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof. However, he added that the exam will remain online out of an abundance of caution.
