The Berkeley Half Marathon will occur Sunday, Feb. 23, resulting in street closures, adjusted bus routes and parking restrictions.
According to a city of Berkeley press release, all races will start at Milvia and Kittredge streets, with the half marathon starting at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K and 10K races starting at 8:30 a.m. Awards and other finish-line activities will occur from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park.
Several streets will be closed and reopened on a schedule as runners move through, the press release notes, and bus routes throughout Berkeley will be disrupted. Residents are encouraged to check the AC Transit detour page for bus schedules and the press release for details on street closure timings.
“Move your vehicles off the affected streets well before the closure time and make plans to use alternate routes, if you need to drive during the affected times,” the press release reads. “The Berkeley Police Department will be monitoring the course during these times.”
The press release notes that some streets will have intermittent access points, so residents should plan for delays.
Additionally, parking will be restricted along portions of the route. According to the press release, residents should park outside of the course area and pay attention to temporary “no parking” signs beginning Saturday evening.
