A shooting occurred Monday in the 2900 block of Sacramento Street in South Berkeley, about 2 miles away from campus.

The incident happened at 3:23 pm, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Byron White. Officers responded to calls that reported “multiple shots” being fired in the area.

Police were able to arrive at the scene “quickly” and promptly began the search for the involved parties, White said in an email.

The victim, an adult, is now at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Several vehicles at the scene were also struck, White added in the email.

“The involved parties fled the scene and the investigation is ongoing,” White said in the email.
