The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory Thursday for low-lying coastal locations across the San Francisco Bay shoreline due to the presence of King Tides, which are the highest astronomical tides of the year.

The advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Sunday and includes San Francisco, North Bay Interior Valleys and San Francisco Bay Shoreline. Minor coastal flooding in areas previously impacted by King Tide events, including low-lying lots, parks and roads throughout the San Francisco Bay Shoreline, is expected.

According to the advisory, residents in low-lying areas should take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property and should not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
