COVID-19 booster shot clinics will open at the Tang Center on Nov. 10 and Nov. 12 for those who meet the eligibility criteria.

Due to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration expanding the use of the COVID-19 booster shot, eligible populations now include individuals 18 to 64 years old with high risk of severe effects from COVID-19 and those with frequent exposure to the virus, according to the FDA press release.

“With COVID-19 vaccine so widely available in the community, UHS will not be providing COVID vaccine boosters broadly to the campus community, so that we can continue to focus on providing health services to our student population,” the University Health Services, or UHS, website reads.

The UHS website adds that eligible individuals who received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least six months ago can book an appointment for the booster shot through the eTang portal.

Booster shots are also recommended for people 18 years and older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago, the eTang portal notes.

COVID-19 vaccines are free for students with or without Berkeley Student Health Insurance Plan, according to the UHS website.
