After months of limited capacity access to the Recreational Sports Facility, or RSF, reservations will no longer be required starting Sept. 7.

Weight rooms, cardio equipment and group exercise classes will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, according to an email from Berkeley Rec Sports. Reservations for Sept. 5-6 have already closed, the email added.

Previously, the RSF restricted gym access to 80 minutes per person, and students were required to obtain limited reservation time slots online, according to campus spokesperson Adam Ratliff.

Additionally, the RSF has expanded its hours to 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On weekends, the RSF will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The email also noted that towel service, showers and day locks remain unavailable. In addition, reservations for lap swim and watercraft rentals will continue to be required.

“Thank you again for your patience as we work to increase our capacity after a year of pandemic-related operations,” the email stated.
