Cal Housing announced Monday that vaccinated campus housing residents will be required to test for COVID-19 at least once a month, starting September. Unvaccinated residents are still required to get weekly tests.

The timing of individual tests will be provided in early September, according to an email Monday from Cal Housing.

“With the return to campus, we do anticipate an uptick in cases, and to proactively stay ahead of any clusters of positive cases, we are implementing this increased testing schedule,” the email stated.

The email added that students should be aware of additional testing instructions and continue checking their eTang portals for changing COVID-19 test deadlines. Although residents have their next test currently set to a month from their move-in test, the dates are subject to adjustments.

Students should make an appointment on eTang for their monthly surveillance testing.

In addition, the email stated that campus housing lounges and kitchenettes will reopen Sept. 3 and academic study centers will reopen Oct. 1. Gyms in residence halls, however, will remain closed.
