When one hears a cliche, they likely have flashbacks to some allegedly inspirational Instagram post that shared the all-too-common phrase. Cliches represent the overused side of language, yet their popularity proves a truth that made them relatable in the first place. You may have even considered which of these repetitive phrases resonates most with your own life. While you can’t judge a book by its cover, perhaps your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator can judge which cliche matches your personality. This analysis is sure to hit the nail on the head.

The Architect (INTJ)

If your happy place consists of rationalizing and analyzing the world, the cliche “read between the lines” is for you. Your ability to strategize based on solid research brings clarity and focus to the world. Facts and figures are your serotonin, and a hunger for learning makes you a key component of solutions to complicated problems.

The Logician (INTP)

A true logician knows that the juiciness of life can be found in the questions, not solely the answers. For this reason, you thrive when you “think outside of the box.” Your curiosity allows you to venture beyond surface-level thinking and into a deeper analysis of interests. You concoct original ideas that separate truths from misinformation.

The Commander (ENTJ)

Willpower from this personality can “take the bull by the horns” without backing down from a fight. In addition to achievement, you ensure that the process of reaching your goal involves precise energy and strategy. You identify the objective, execute the plan and readily welcome any challenges that arise.

The Debater (ENTP)

You are just the person to argue that your phrase “playing devil’s advocate” acts more as an idiom than a cliche. As a debater, you challenge others to come armed and ready for every conversation. For you, validity stems from keeping tabs and pulling out receipts for proof. You aren’t afraid to take the stance that everyone else hides from, and many points will be made when you tackle a topic.

The Advocate (INFJ)

Although a rare personality type, you’ll know an advocate by your rally to do the right thing. If this is your personality, you boldly yet wisely “put your best foot forward” in every circumstance life throws at you. Not only will you do your best, but it will also be based on the principles, creativity and altruistic spirit through which you approach tasks.

The Mediator (INFP)

Do you find yourself daydreaming or getting lost in the artistry of the world around you? If you do, you possess the mediator personality type. For you, “every cloud has a silver lining,” and every encounter means a chance to develop meaningful relationships with others. Your passion for the inventions of your mind brings an empathetic yet unique approach that brightens the world.

The Protagonist (ENFJ)

Always the charmer, this personality often finds itself inspiring those around them. It isn’t surprising that your cliche is “all for one, and one for all.” You have likely heard it said in heroic movies and tales, which seem to portray your own natural ability to encourage those around you by paving the way to a victory. People can rely on you to be both a team player and a leader.

The Campaigner (ENFP)

With a campaigner personality, your desire exists outside of the comfort zones most adhere to. Every action creates a meaningful reaction, which is why you always “make hay while the sun shines.” You share your enthusiasm paired with your ideas, enabling others to connect and communicate naturally with you.

The Logistician (ISTJ)

Honest direction from this personality leaves no time for games. As a logistician, you “keep your nose to the grindstone” to stay on target for your goals. Your word is true, and you are true to your word. The stability and responsibility you bring form structure and adaptability for every occasion.

The Defender (ISFJ)

The support of a defender personality provides time, experience and empathy. You selflessly “bend over backward” for friends, family and those in need, while maintaining patience and reliability. Others can identify you by your committed work ethic and inspirational belief in bettering everyone you meet.

The Executive (ESTJ)

Direct, reliable and devoted, the executive personality knows more than anyone how to “lay down the law.” Their organizational skills minimize error and delegate responsibility in order to establish structure. For this reason, executives are often relied on for their ability to get a job done well.

The Consul (ESFJ)

People are your passion, and you are popular with people. It’s “the more, the merrier” for your inviting and warm personality. When you connect with those around you, others can rely on your loyalty and comfort. A true pillar to those you hold dear, you make it your duty to be practical and caring.

The Virtuoso (ISTP)

When a crisis strikes, this personality type knows how to “knuckle down” and stay grounded. You remain calm, cool and collected even as those around you resort to panic. By prioritizing rationality, you know how to exert energy in the most efficient ways. Optimism you exude also brings relief when it’s needed most.

The Adventurer (ISFP)

Not only do you “let the good times roll,” but you also redefine those good times with passionate imagination. Artistry, curiosity and charm combine to create a beautiful and redefined environment. People are drawn to the way you empathize and harmonize in unexpected ways. At the same time, you explore limits and boldly push boundaries.

The Entrepreneur (ESTP)

Does “Shark Tank” have you imagining endless possibilities? If so, you are likely the entrepreneur personality and unafraid to “jump in with both feet.” A bold presence keeps those around you enthralled, and your perceptive response to others makes you very adaptable to even the most subtle changes. Beyond sociability, your inventive nature acts as an avenue for connecting with the world around you.

The Entertainer (ESFP)

The spotlight is your energy source, and you soak it up like a photosynthesizer. Your ability to “seize the day” rings true, whether you are investing time in others or simply enjoying your own showmanship. It also helps that your aesthetically pleasing personality makes everything stylish and satisfying. You aren’t afraid to venture out into new territory and approach the unknown with excitement and flair.
