Andrew Browning, Cal’s defensive line coach, is likely a very happy man. Three-star defensive lineman Jaxson Moi has committed to the Bears following his official visit this past weekend. Moi, a 6’2”, 260-pound recruit from San Diego, fielded offers from 21 different campuses, including Pac-12 foes USC, Stanford and Oregon, as well as multiple Ivy League schools.

Moi, while “just” a three-star recruit (which is still a very impressive feat), is a huge get for the Bears. His father played at USC, and Stanford made it clear that Moi was a huge part of its recruiting strategy going forward. Cal is having great success securing talent on the defensive side of the ball and is winning recruiting battles that it used to struggle with, landing players who received offers from the likes of USC and Stanford.
With the tides turning in the Bears’ direction, there is plenty to be excited about going forward. Head coach Justin Wilcox and his staff have knocked it out of the park on the recruiting trail in their tenure with Cal, and with more talent accumulating in the Bay, it seems as though this trend will continue.
