Buchanan Street COVID-19 vaccination site opens drop-in appointments

Drop-in appointments are available at the 1 Buchanan St. mass COVID-19 vaccination site in Albany. Individuals ages 16 and older can get the Pfizer vaccine while those ages 18 and older are eligible to get the Moderna vaccine.

As the proportion of people vaccinated in the city of Berkeley surpasses 50%, the city of Albany’s 1 Buchanan St. mass vaccination site opened availability for drop-in appointments beginning Friday.

The site, located near the edge of North Berkeley, is currently accepting any individual 16 years old and older for vaccination appointments between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday, according to a city of Berkeley press release.

Individuals above 16 years of age are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine, while individuals above 18 years of age are eligible to receive the Moderna vaccine. Those younger than 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian, the release added.

The Pfizer vaccine will be administered May 13-15, according to the release. Appointments for the 1 Buchanan St. vaccination site can be made through myturn.ca.gov.

Vaccines are free, the release noted, but individuals with medical insurance will be required to provide their insurance information.
