On March 2, freshman quarterback Jaden Casey announced that he will be transferring away from Cal via his Twitter. Casey was a highly touted high school recruit in the 2020 cycle, garnering three-star ratings and offers from schools such as Alabama and Fresno State among others, the latter of which he ultimately decommitted from in favor of signing with the Bears.

This leaves the Cal QB room a little less crowded, but still stout, with returning starter Chase Garbers along with Robby Rowell, Spencer Brasch and Zach Johnson still in the mix. Kai Millner, a four-star 2021 signee out of Arizona, will join the Bears as well at some point over the summer. The QB room still retains its veteran presence, as three of the remaining four quarterbacks have more than three years of experience in the program.
