Less than a week away from Cal men’s soccer season opener in the Big Clasico against Stanford, junior midfielder Taylor Davila signed with LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship, the second division of professional U.S. soccer.
The Los Angeles Galaxy Academy product leaves Berkeley after having started every game in his two fruitful seasons. He also posted two goals and eight assists in his role as a central defensive midfielder over the course of his Cal career. Davila will continue to bring his confidence and poise to the LA Galaxy organization, one of the most successful clubs in Major League Soccer.
Davila made his first appearance for LA Galaxy II back in June of 2018. In 2019, after making a second straight NCAA tournament appearance, Davila earned spots on the United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region first team and the 2019 All-Pac-12 first team.
Taylor Davila’s brother, freshman midfielder Evan Davila, and the rest of the Bears will begin their season at Witter Rugby Field this Saturday against Stanford. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
