Unfortunately, this value has not always been reflected in our newsroom. In 2017, The Daily Californian established the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to foster an environment welcoming to all staff members. Our goal is to uplift staff members and to ensure our coverage is both representative and accurate of city and campus communities.

The Div Com Desk blog will translate our weekly discussions about diversity and newsroom culture to the larger community through stories ranging in style and topic. Whether covering our newsroom’s hiring process or commenting on identity politics, the Div Com Desk brings together all the Daily Cal has to offer.
