As challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic persist, UC Berkeley’s Rausser College of Natural Resources, or RCNR, extended its pass/no pass, or P/NP, grading option through the spring semester.

Aligning with the fall semester grading option, college requirements, which entail reading and composition, quantitative reasoning and foreign language, may be taken P/NP, according to an email sent to students in the college Monday. Major and minor requirements may also be taken P/NP, and students are encouraged to seek advice from faculty and staff regarding how grading options may impact their academic endeavors.

Prerequisites for all RCNR majors may also be met by taking courses P/NP, according to the email. Beyond the extended P/NP grading option, RCNR reminded students that pass grades cannot account for more than one-third of the 120-unit minimum requirement.

Grading options for the spring semester must be selected by April 29, the email adds. As changing grading options could adversely affect admissions to graduate and professional schools, RCNR recommends students consult with those institutions to determine the best course of action.
