Berkeley Police Department officers detained and arrested three suspects — two men and one woman — on suspicion of their involvement in an armed robbery of the Dollar Tree at 1284 San Pablo Ave.
Around 4:52 p.m. Tuesday, BPD received calls about an armed robbery occurring at the store. The department sent a Nixle alert around 5 p.m. advising Berkeley residents to avoid the area of Allston Way between Spaulding Avenue and California Street.
The employees of the Dollar Tree provided BPD with descriptions of the suspects and the car they left the area in.
When an officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, the occupants left the vehicle and ran into yards on the 1500 block of Allston Way. All three suspects were detained and arrested at 5:22 p.m.
According to BPD, officers remained in the area to collect more evidence, and robbery detectives will take over the investigation.
