The Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, arrested two 21-year-old men Saturday on suspicion of involvement in the burglary of The Campus Store on Euclid Avenue.

Police responded to an alleged burglary, which took place at around 6 a.m., after a witness reported the sound of broken glass and voices coming from inside the store. Berkeley resident Jeremy Joseph, 21, was allegedly located outside the store when officers first arrived and was detained after a foot chase. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest.

Officers noticed a second suspect, 21-year-old Berkeley resident Akhil Perimbeti, allegedly leaving the building with a bag of stolen merchandise, including cash, cigarettes and drinks. According to an alert from BPD, Perimbeti was found under a car by Haviland Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. A bag of cocaine was also allegedly found in his pockets, according to BPD. Perimbeti was arrested on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest and possession of narcotics.
