Let’s be real. Most of us don’t bother with breakfast before our morning lectures. Yes, we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We’ve heard it a million times before! But, as busy college students, who has the time for breakfast? We’d rather sleep in an extra 20 minutes than spend that time prepping and eating. Well, not anymore! We at the Clog have come to the rescue with our quick, easy and flavorful breakfast ideas that will cease your stomach grumbles and keep you energized all morning long.
Hard-boiled eggs
Immediately after waking up, put your eggs to boil. Twelve minutes later, just as you finish getting ready to leave, your eggs are done. Dash some salt and pepper on top, and be on your merry way while relishing a nutritious breakfast. You can also buy preboiled eggs at campus market locations or your regular grocery store, but be sure to check the expiration date first!
Smoothie
This is going to require 10 minutes of your time, but it is so worth it! Check out the Clog’s favorite recipes and guides to help you build your own nutritious smoothie to enjoy on the way to class. It’s as easy as throwing your choice of fruit, liquid and protein base inside of a blender. If you want to save time or not have to deal with cleaning up, spare some time the night before to make your smoothie and store it in the fridge. When you head out for class the following day, be sure to grab your delicious smoothie creation on the way out!
Yogurt with fruit
Pay a visit to your favorite grocery store to purchase some yogurt cups that are sure to come in handy. They’re packed with protein and super easy to eat — just peel off the lid! When your stomach starts to growl in the early morning and there aren’t any eateries open yet, just grab one of your yogurt cups. Our personal favorite is Trader Joe’s six-pack for $2.99, which comes in a variety of flavors, from peach and mango to strawberries and banana. You can also top off any yogurt with your favorite fruits, such as berries or banana slices, for a kick of natural sweetness. Fruits also serve as a convenient snack to keep your hunger at bay until lunchtime.
Bagel and cream cheese
Rather than waiting in line to get your blueberry bagel with cream cheese before an early class, just make your own! It takes less than a minute to smear some cream cheese atop your freshly toasted bagel. Not only will you save time and satisfy your hunger, but you’ll also save money, which is a plus for college students.
Cereal
This one’s really basic, but if all else fails, at least you have some cereal to rely on!
With these simple breakfast ideas, we hope you won’t ever have to go hungry again. The best part is that you don’t even have to wake up a minute earlier to make them. Now you can truly enjoy your morning classes thanks to a full and happy stomach! There’s no limit to what you’ll be able to accomplish in your mornings.
