Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, officers responded to a suspicious device found on Shattuck Avenue on March 6.

The device was found close to Rose Street by a citizen, after which BPD cordoned off the area and called on their bomb team. The area has since been re-opened and is considered safe, according to BPD Lieutenant Mel Turner.

While BPD does not know what the device was, Turner added that BPD is continuing to investigate.
