Strong-arm robbery occurs east of Derby Street

At about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 24, a man walking east on Derby Street was attacked by another man before having his backpack stolen, according to a Berkeley Police Department Nixle Alert.

The alert added that the man was approaching College Avenue when the suspect knocked him to the ground, taking his backpack. The man was taken to a local hospital for injuries to his head.

Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male, about 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches in height, wearing a white jacket and a dark-colored cap, according to the alert. The suspect was last seen driving away in a dark sedan.
