Three former Cal football players — Ashtyn Davis, Evan Weaver and Jaylinn Hawkins — have been invited to participate in the 2020 NFL draft scouting combine. The combine will take place Feb. 23 to March 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The defensive trio anchored a Cal defense that ranked 11th in yards allowed and 2nd in interceptions per game in 2018.

Davis, a walk-on, had seven interceptions and 166 tackles in his four years at Cal. The 6’1″ safety missed the 2020 Redbox Bowl due to injury. He was a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, an award given to college football’s most outstanding walk-on.

Hawkins, also a safety, grabbed 10 interceptions playing for the blue and gold, and was an honorable mention on the All Pac-12 list. He led the conference in 2018 in interceptions and was the Defensive MVP of the Cheez-It Bowl.

Weaver broke the Pac-12 tackle record with 181 tackles in the Bears’ 2019 season. The middle linebacker was given the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year award in December.

Davis ranks third among all safety prospects in the 2020 draft according to CBS Sports, and Weaver ranks 11th among linebackers.

The 2020 NFL draft begins April 23 and ends April 25.
