Back in high school and even now in college, my go-to for when I’m craving something sweet is a mug brownie. All you need is your regular old mug, a microwave, some ingredients, and in less than five minutes, your brownie is ready! This National Brownie Day, get ready to dig into a decadent brownie in a mug!
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
2½ tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
A pinch of salt
2 tablespoons of oil
3 tablespoons of milk
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
Chocolate chips (optional)
Whipped cream(optional)
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Assorted nuts (optional)
Directions
In a standard-sized microwaveable mug, add the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder and salt). Next, mix the vanilla extract, oil and milk with the dry ingredients until it forms a smooth, homogenous mixture. Feel free to add some chocolate chips into the batter if you’d like a more fudgy brownie or nuts for some texture. Microwave for 1 minute continuously and then at 10-second intervals until it is fully cooked. Top with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, and your mug brownie is now ready to be devoured!
So there you have it! This warm brownie in a mug is the perfect comfort food on chilly, rainy days and your best companion during dead week!
