Dec. 4 is National Cookie Day! There might be tons of cookie recipes out there, but this is the best one — you’re going to have to trust us on this one, folks. Give this recipe a try and enjoy its heavenly goodness right in your own home. Who doesn’t love the smell of butter and chocolate? No one.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 egg

1 egg yolk

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt in a large bowl and set aside. In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Beat in the vanilla, egg and egg yolk until the mixture is light and creamy.

Add the sifted ingredients into the wet mixture until everything is blended completely. You shouldn’t be able to see the white flour at this point. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a spoon.

Drop the cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto a prepared baking tray. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart so that they don’t mash together when you bake them.

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven. The edges should be lightly golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking tray for a few minutes before you devour one (or all) of these amazing cookies!

This might be the simplest cookie recipe, but it’s also the best one. Less is more, right? Celebrate National Cookie Day with these decadent cookies!
