Spicy rice cakes are the fast food of Korean culture. They’re quick, delicious and loved by literally everyone. Other Korean food can be quite complicated to make, but spicy rice cakes don’t have to be! Here’s the simplest way to make Korean spicy rice cakes.

Ingredients:

2 cups of rice cakes

1 cup of chopped fish cake

2 cups of water

½ cup of chopped green onions

2 tablespoons of red pepper paste

1 1/2 tablespoons of red pepper flakes

2 tablespoons of soy sauce

3 tablespoons of sugar

1 pack of ramen noodles (optional)

1 cup of mozzarella cheese (optional)

Directions:

Bring the water, rice cakes and fish cake to a boil in a pot. While you are waiting, mix the red pepper paste, red pepper flakes, soy sauce and sugar in a separate bowl and stir until thoroughly combined. Add the mixture into the boiling water and allow it to cook for five minutes while stirring occasionally.

If you decide to add ramen noodles, you can do it at this time. Make sure to give the mixture a good stir in order to coat the noodles in the sauce. As the ramen cooks, add the green onions. When the ramen is cooked thoroughly, remove from the heat and garnish with cheese.

Enjoy this simple Korean spicy rice cake as a quick bite between studying or as a tasty late night snack. No matter what time of day it is, Korean spicy cakes always seem to hit the spot!
