Fiction can be a great escape from the real world. If your summer is filled with summer school, work or boredom, then a piece of fiction might be the closest thing you can get to a vacation. And part of that comes from the wonderful locations found in these stories. Instead of being jealous of the elaborate vacation your friend is going on, be wistful of the unbeatable vacation you could have inside a fictional world. Here are some fictional places you can retreat to — in case you want to start making some travel plans.
The Shire
Nothing is more idyllic than the rolling green hills and simple lifestyle of the Shire. This makes the land of Hobbits from “The Lord of the Rings” the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. You might even get lucky and be there for a big birthday bash, getting to experience a party only a Hobbit could throw. The Shire is the perfect place if you want your vacation to remind you of the simple joys in life.
Alderaan
Before it was destroyed by the Death Star in “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope,” the planet of Alderaan was a paradise. But since it’s a fictional location, you can visit it long before it was destroyed. There are plenty of lakes to swim in and mountains with sweeping vistas. If you want to see some gorgeous nature and castles owned by the most important people in the galaxy, then this spot is for you.
Hogwarts
Studying abroad can be its own form of vacation. What better place to learn some new skills in another country than Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? You can learn spells and potions during the day and go on wild adventures (some of them even inside the castle) at night. Seems like the perfect vacation if your parents insist you do something productive with your summer.
Jurassic World
Vacations don’t all have to be relaxing or full of beautiful sights. Sometimes, it’s good for a vacation to have a little danger in it. Jurassic World, a zoo filled with dinosaurs on its own island, might be the right vacation spot for you. And you won’t find these dangerous dinosaurs anywhere else, so it’ll make your friends even more jealous of your vacation. While the park does have a history of dinosaurs escaping and attacking guests, it could be just the thing for making your vacation one you’ll never forget.
Hopefully these have helped you imagine incredible vacation spots for you to get lost in. If not, pay closer attention to that television show or book that interests you — it might just offer you the perfect fictional escape.
