Berkeley Police Department received multiple reports of gunfire in South Berkeley on Wednesday, according to BPD spokesperson Officer Byron White.

Several officers responded to the area of 62nd and King streets about 6:37 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers found bullet casings on the ground and discovered that some uninvolved vehicles had been struck by gunfire, White said in an email.

“After speaking with several witnesses in the area, it appears that at least two suspects had been shooting at each other,” White said in his email.

White added that one of the suspects was “possibly driving” in a black car-share vehicle.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact BPD’s Homicide Unit at 510-981-5741.
