There has yet to be a repeat winner of the Golden Spikes Award since its inception, but Andrew Vaughn might just buck that trend.

Cal baseball’s star first baseman was selected to the 2019 Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list, as announced by USA Baseball on Wednesday.

Vaughn, who won the Golden Spikes Award last season, has continued to solidify his reputation as one of the nation’s best sluggers.

This season, Vaughn has a .344 batting average with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs, all of which are team highs. Vaughn also ranks in the top 25 nationally in on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
