North Berkeley fire causes street closure, community asked to avoid area

Update 4/9/19: This article has been updated to reflect information from an additional Nixle alert.

A fire on the 1800 block of Delaware Street has closed off the area to all traffic, according to a Nixle alert released by the Berkeley Police Department at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday.

Smoke could be seen rising into the air from blocks away as the Berkeley Fire Department responded to the fire. The community is urged to stay clear of the area.

The area has since reopened, according to another Nixle alert at 3:57 p.m.
