UCPD received information regarding a strong-arm robbery that occurred Saturday on Grizzly Peak Boulevard about 3:30 a.m., according to a Nixle alert released Wednesday.

The victim, who was enjoying the view with his friends at Signpost 16, descended alone from an embankment to take photographs on his phone. Shortly afterward, the victim was confronted by two suspects, who allegedly took his phone and “assaulted him via punch and kick,” according to the alert.

When the victim tried to retreat back up the embankment, additional suspects blocked him. According to the alert, there were about five suspects.

The victim, who is not affiliated with UC Berkeley, eventually fled west from the embankment and sustained bruises and abrasions from the assault.
