Two laptop robberies occurred Monday evening at Caffé Strada, marking the latest in laptop-related crimes in Berkeley cafés and public spaces, according to a Nixle alert released by Berkeley Police Department and UCPD Tuesday.
The alert said that at about 10:40 p.m., two male suspects forcibly stole laptops from two victims in the café, located at 2300 College Ave. The victims were not injured in the process and the alert added that it is unknown whether they are UC Berkeley affiliates.
According to the alert, one laptop was recovered.
Laptop thefts and robberies are regular occurrences in Berkeley. Caffé Strada has seen several grand thefts of laptops since the start of 2019, and thieves have frequently targeted other cafés like Sack’s Coffee House. BPD also released a Nixle alert Monday reporting four separate incidences of thefts around Berkeley between March 11 and March 14, including one just outside of Rasa Caffe.
Anyone with information about the case or related incidents is asked to contact BPD’s 24-hour line at (510) 981-5900.
