Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert about noon Wednesday asking for the community’s help in identifying two laptop theft suspects who were caught on video.
About 1 p.m. Monday, BPD responded to a call about a robbery at Caffe Strada, where a suspect had grabbed a patron’s laptop and tried to escape to a waiting car. The suspect, however, was grabbed by two “good Samaritans,” who attempted to hold the suspect until police arrived, according to the alert.
The getaway driver then left the car and assaulted one of the two “good Samaritans,” allowing the other suspect to escape. The two suspects then fled in a “newer model, blue Chevy Impala,” the alert said.
The alert links to a video of the crime, where the suspects can be seen.
BPD asks the “good Samaritans” or anyone with information on this incident to call (510) 981-5742.
