The UC Berkeley College of Engineering was recently ranked as having the third best graduate engineering program in the United States by U.S. News.

The overall ranking for Berkeley Engineering remained the same as last year, while individual departments have either also remained the same or have moved up from last year, according to Sarah Yang, executive director of marketing and communications at the College of Engineering.

The departments that moved up include bioengineering, which increased from sixth to fourth place, materials science and engineering, which increased from fifth to third place, and electrical engineering and computer sciences, which increased from third place to first place.

Yang said the recent ranking is a reflection of the education and research that Berkeley Engineering offers.

“Ultimately what matters is how well we fulfill our mission to our students and to the public we serve,” Yang said. “Our students graduate as leaders and innovators. Our dedicated faculty members lead groundbreaking research and offer expertise that serves and benefits society.”
