Surprisingly enough, milk is in a lot of things. And sometimes that doesn’t sit well with people. Just because you can’t unregrettably consume dairy, it doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to all of your favorite desserts. Because we all know that for some people, a moment on the lips equals a lifetime on the toilet. Finding dairy-free desserts is a lot harder than you might imagine. Because of that, we at the Clog have done our research and compiled a list of tasty alternatives for you to enjoy. Whether you’re vegan, lactose-intolerant, not a fan of milk or all of the above, this dairy-free Berkeley dessert guide will definitely have something to satisfy your sweet tooth. #noregrets

The Butcher’s Son

In addition to the delicious vegan food at this establishment, the desserts are also crazy good. The Butcher’s Son offers a great selection of vegan pastries ranging from cookies and cannolis to pies and cakes. Next time you come here for lunch, be sure to save room for dessert!

Located on Oxford Street, this place is a favorite for the lactose tolerant and intolerant. Make your own cinnamon roll by choosing one of the many flavors of frosting. Top it all off with some yummy additions such as cookie dough, chocolate chips or pie crumbles to really make it your own.

Tara’s Organic Ice Cream

A neighborhood favorite, Tara’s Organic Ice Cream offers a wide selection of vegan sorbets. Their unique flavors rotate daily, so be sure to check out their daily selection before you head in. Or go in and be pleasantly surprised because let’s be honest, Tara’s never disappoints.

Ici Ice Cream

You probably know this place by the velvet rope and long line that stands outside of this shop. Let us tell you this, it’s well worth the wait. Ici typically offers a few dairy-free sorbet options on their changing daily assortment of flavors. Although they don’t have as wide of a selection of dairy-free options, they sure do know how to make a good sorbet.

Almare Gelato

Right in Downtown Berkeley, Almare makes gelato fresh every morning. With a changing assortment of flavors, Almare always has four to five dairy-free sorbets ranging from mango to raspberry sorbet. Every flavor has the perfect combination of sweet and creamy and will surely satisfy every sweet tooth. Can’t decide between two flavors? Neither can we. Pro-tip: you can pick up to two flavors per cup so you don’t have to choose!

On the corner of Channing Way and Telegraph Avenue, this joint has been serving ice cream sandwiches for years. Grab yourself some soy based ice cream and vegan cookies for the ultimate dairy-free treat. Nothing beats a scoop of ice cream sandwiched between two warm cookies. And we mean nothing.
