UCPD arrested a suspect who matched the description of a male wanted for alleged sexual battery Saturday morning, according to a joint Nixle alert issued by UCPD and Berkeley Police Department about noon Saturday.

The alert wrote that a female unaffiliated with the campus reported to a UCPD officer 1:15 a.m. Saturday that she had been walking on Telegraph Avenue near Channing Way when she was approached by a male suspect.

The suspect allegedly cornered the victim and groped her breast, according to UCPD.

The suspect was described as a 37-year-old, 5-foot-6-inch male with black hair and a goatee, weighing 120 pounds and wearing a leopard-skin jacket and jeans.

The alert said UCPD searched the area and arrested a suspect matching the aforementioned description on unrelated charges. UCPD later turned over the suspect to BPD.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact BPD at (510) 981-5900.
