Campus buildings experienced a power outage about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a UCPD Nixle alert.

The alert, which was issued about 3:39 p.m., said the campus lost power “due to a high voltage PG&E outage.”

UCPD spokesperson Sgt. Sabrina Reich said the exact cause of the power outage is currently being investigated. Reich said the power outage resulted in multiple fire alarms being set off in campus buildings after alarms were triggered by fumes and smoke from backup power generators.

According to the alert, power has been restored to all campus buildings and facilities services are currently walking through buildings to inspect systems.
