A power outage occurred Friday in North Berkeley that affected 1,127 Pacific, Gas and Electric customers.

The outage occurred about 2:20 p.m. and affected mostly the northwest side of the UC Berkeley campus, according to PG&E spokesperson Deanna Contreras. Though PG&E officials originally expected power to be restored by 5:30 p.m., there were still 122 customers experiencing the outage by that deadline.

Contreras said the remaining 122 residents still experiencing the outage can expect power to return by 8 p.m., though some customers will receive power before then.

The outage was caused after a power line went down on the 2700 block of Ridge Road because of a fallen tree, according to Contreras.
