A person was reported in the trackway of the Ashby BART station about 4:40 p.m. Saturday, according to BART spokesperson Jim Allison.

The incident caused significant delays in the Fremont, Richmond, Daly City and San Francisco directions, as trains could not stop at the Ashby station due to police activity, according to a BART alert tweet.

The victim, an unidentified adult male, was later removed from the tracks and transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland. BART police launched a criminal investigation as a state of procedure, but there is no indication of criminal activity at this point, Allison said.

The Ashby station reopened at 5:35 p.m. with only one track in service while police handled the situation on the other track, according to BART spokesperson Alicia Trost. Both tracks were opened up shortly after 6 p.m. when police finished their onsite investigation, Trost said in an email.
