Update: This article has been updated to include additional information from UCPD.
Campus police received a report Tuesday at 6:59 a.m. of a burglary via window smashing at Evans Hall.
Police found that more than nine offices had been broken into on the ninth floor and that computers had been taken, according to a UCPD crime alert released Wednesday.
According to UCPD Captain Alex Yao, evidence has been collected that may help in identifying the suspect(s) involved.
In recent months, UCPD has observed an increase in burglaries via window smashing at campus facilities, according to the alert. The last window smashing burglary occurred July 21 at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, where 20 offices were broken into and computers were taken.
Other buildings recently reporting burglaries include North Gate, Dwinelle, Cory, Wellman and Moses halls, the alert said.
“There are similarities between this burglary and the others that occurred recently in other campus buildings, however we’re in the early stage of investigating this burglary and have not ruled out other possibilities,” Yao said in an email.
