It’s the first week of summer vacation! Whether you’re bumming it back home on the couch or holding it down in Berk-town, these picks of the week will get you into the swing of summertime.
Any time: The Story So Far’s self-titled album
Although its official release date isn’t until Tuesday, Bay Area punk rock band the Story So Far has its new self-titled album available to stream right now! The band is signed to Berkeley-based Pure Noise Records and is ending its headlining tour with a hometown show at the Fillmore in San Francisco on June 13. So pick up the record, and get ready to rock out later this summer!
Tuesday: An Evening with Jessie J
Start your summer off with a “Bang Bang” and see British songstress Jessie J perform live at the Fillmore in San Francisco! Feel the heat of her fiery vocals when she belts out hits, such as “Price Tag” and “Domino,” and her new song, “Flashlight,” from the “Pitch Perfect 2” soundtrack. Tickets are still available here.
Thursday: “The Godfather” at United Artists 7 Berkeley
Are you bored in your Berkeley apartment, anxiously waiting for summer classes to start? Head down to Shattuck Avenue for a throwback Thursday and see gangster classic “The Godfather.” Tickets are only $5, so persuade a big group of friends to come along by making them an offer they can’t refuse.
Friday: “Tomorrowland”
Do you love Disney? Adorable robots? The equally adorable George Clooney? If you answered “yes” to all of these questions, then check out “Tomorrowland,” the new action and adventure film based loosely on the Disneyland region of the same name.
