Cal Athletics announced Friday that it would not be renewing the contract of wide receivers coach Pierre Ingram after he was arrested in part of a prostitution sting April 16.
Ingram, who had been one of the team’s top recruiters, was put on paid administrative leave after his arrest and was noticeably missing from the Bears’ spring football exhibition game. A statement from the campus reads, “We are not renewing his contract and he will no longer represent or act on behalf of this University in any capacity.”
The father of two had been making $180,000 per year and followed Cal head coach Sonny Dykes to Berkeley from Louisiana Tech. Ingram served as Cal’s running backs coach in his first two years with the program but was promoted to passing game coordinator this spring for the coming fall season.
He was arrested in Oakland on suspicion of soliciting someone who turned out to be an undercover officer and was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor solicitation of a lewd act. His court date is set for sometime in May.
